Consults for a Cause August 2021: IFCA
Bettering lives by bettering spaces is as close to my heart as my hometown of Ossining. IFCA being August’s Consults for a Cause designated charity was an easy choice.
The epitome of a grass-roots organization, Interfaith Council for Action has been the community champion of affordable housing for over 50 years.
To date IFCA has rehabbed 12 historic multi-family properties in Ossining and Tarrytown, creating homes for 92 families. Below is their flagship restoration at 235 Spring Street.
As they’ve grown, services have expanded to the community at large: job training and classes on financial literacy.
Better housing has created jobs, increased village tax base, and restored grace and dignity to buildings, as well as to the people who live in them. How can you not love that??
As we slog through this pandemic, smaller and local charities face even steeper challenges to be heard, seen, and to raise funding. TRH’s Consults for a Cause looks to help by:
- Raising funds by re-directing 8 hours of design and listing prep consult fees to that month’s charity
- Increase donor base by upping awareness of the organization’s good works
- Encourage other local businesses that can, to think of a way they, too can give back to their communities
MANY THANKS to Deborah Glatz of Yorktown’s Coldwell Banker office, the McVeigh family, and to Jenn Maher, of JPhilip Real Estate and JPhilip Commercial Group in Mahopac for their participation in the last Consults for a Cause! Together, their consult fees contributed over $1600 to NAMI Westchester, aiding families and individuals affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy.
